George Fern Company Appointed Preferred General Service Contractor

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex is pleased to announce that
the George Fern Company has been appointed the preferred general service contractor for the
facility. This appointment was effective January 2, 2007.
Ranked among the top three service contractors in the nation, the George Fern Company brings
an extensive range of resources to this position. Their new office and warehouse space, located
on-site at the convention complex, will offer the company’s full range of services while
maintaining its commitment to providing personal service and top-quality equipment.
The George Fern Company has been providing services to conventions and exhibitions for nearly
100 years. The company now has 11 offices in eight states, including Alabama, Indiana,
Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia.
Located in the heart of Birmingham, BJCC is just four miles from the airport. In addition to
220,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, the facility boasts 770 adjoining guest rooms, 74 meeting rooms,
a 19,000-seat arena, a 3,000-seat concert hall and a 1,000-seat theater. Plus, the ten-story
Medical Forum building is on-site; it contains 364,000 sq. ft. of classrooms, meeting space,
conference areas and commercial office suites.
