BIRMINGHAM, AL – The BJCC is asking fans to share memorabilia and collectibles – from newspaper clippings, to programs, to old ticket stubs – in preparation for Legacy Arena’s 50th anniversary party next year.
“Many of us remember attending our first concert, circus, or hockey game at the arena,” said Tad Snider, executive director and CEO of the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. “We hope fans can help us celebrate and capture the arena’s amazing history by sharing their special mementos.”
Among the hundreds of artists who have appeared at the arena since it opened in 1976 are Elvis Presley, Prince, Elton John, Whitney Houston, Cher, Stevie Wonder, Led Zeppelin, and KISS.
Fans aren’t required to actually part with memorabilia from these shows or other events to assist with the celebration. The BJCC will accept photos or scans, and in some cases, temporary loans may be appropriate.
Examples of memorabilia include:
• Tickets, programs and backstage passes
• Photos, slides or videos
• Ads and newspaper clippings
• Working passes and tour stickers
• Venue-specific posters and merchandise
Depending on the year and the event, the memorabilia may refer to the BJCC Coliseum, the BJCC Arena, Legacy Arena, or just the BJCC. Memorabilia will be accepted through Dec. 31, 2025. Email submissions or questions to social.media@bjcc.org.
