Protective Stadium Welcomes 1 Millionth Fan as Legacy Arena Hosts Record-Breaking R&B Tour

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) will mark a historic day on March 28 as Protective Stadium welcomes its 1 millionth fan during the Monster Jam event and Legacy Arena hosts a record-breaking R&B tour, with both events sold out.

Since opening in 2021, Protective Stadium has established itself as a cornerstone of Birmingham’s live entertainment landscape. From high-demand events like Monster Jam and the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship to serving as the home of UAB Blazers football, Birmingham Legion FC, the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions, and the annual Birmingham Bowl, the venue continues to draw audiences from across the region.

“In 2025 alone, Protective Stadium welcomed more than 226,000 fans, a 25% increase over the previous year, and what stands out is how the space is being used even beyond the big events,” said Tad Snider, CEO of the BJCC. “From neighborhood meetings to corporate gatherings in the Stadium Club, this has become a place that serves Birmingham in a lot of different ways throughout the year.”

The stadium has also emerged as a major outdoor concert destination, hosting sold-out performances by Garth Brooks in 2022 and Chris Brown in 2025, with Post Malone and Jelly Roll set to take the stage on May 26, 2026.

“One million guests in five years is more than a milestone. It reflects what Birmingham can accomplish when the community comes together. In that time, Protective Stadium has become a place where fans create lasting memories, with an impact that extends beyond the gates to local businesses, surrounding neighborhoods and the region as a whole. We’re grateful to every fan, partner and supporter who has helped make that possible,” said Doyle Williams, Chief Marketing Officer, Protective.

The day also features another sold-out, high-impact moment as Legacy Arena hosts the New Edition Way Tour, featuring New Edition, Boyz II Men, and Toni Braxton.

The tour ranks among the Top 5 highest-grossing events of all time at the BJCC, behind Zach Bryan (No. 1), P!NK (No. 2), the Eagles (No. 3), and Chris Rock & Dave Chappelle (No. 4). It also stands as the No. 4 highest-grossing concert of all time and the No. 1 grossing R&B tour in BJCC history.

“March 28 represents what the BJCC campus does at its best—delivering multiple, high-impact experiences across our venues in a single day,” said Tad Snider, CEO of the BJCC. “From celebrating a major milestone at Protective Stadium to hosting the top-grossing R&B tour of all time at Legacy Arena, this is a reflection of the momentum we’re seeing across Birmingham as a whole.”
