Alabama Ballet presents American Portraits
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, American Portraits is a vibrant mixed repertory program honoring the artistic voices and cultural spirit of the nation. The program features Stars and Stripes Pas de Deux, choreographed by George Balanchine, a brilliant display of neoclassical energy and patriotic flair.
Also included is To Heal, choreographed by Christopher Stuart, a deeply moving work set to Gospel music that reflects themes of faith, resilience, and renewal.
Rounding out the program is Dispersal, choreographed by Christopher Stuart, a contemporary and abstract exploration of motion, connection, and transformation. Together, these works span generations of American choreography and musical influence. The program highlights both tradition and innovation in ballet. American Portraits offers a powerful reflection on America’s past, present, and creative future.
